Obasanjo, Buhari meet at African Union Summit

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the open letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo as “abusive”.

Obasanjo had written a damning letter to Buhari, advising him not to seek re-election in 2019.

Speaking in a special interview session with the Voice of America, Hausa service, in the United States on Tuesday, Buhari said he did not want a response to the letter which derided the government.

“Even when the Minister of Information and Culture wanted to reply that abusive letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, I had wanted Lai not to reply to the letter, but I said I should allow him to highlight the achievements of our administration,” he said.
