Literary Corner:Fatima's Wedding by Preshie

FATIMA'S WEDDING PARTY

After the whole day's work
I lowered my fatigued body
Into my bed
Suddenly, I saw myself standing
In the bright and shining hall
I saw the movers seated
Round the table of glamour
"Where am I",I pondered
Then I saw Alhaji Dangote
It was his daughter's matrimony
My heart pumped with joy
Then I walked up to him and said
"Congratulations, Uncle Aliko'
"But I feel you are selling your daughter"
Then he grinned
A grin filled with untold excitement
"Walahi talahi,I am haffi,very haffi"
"My dauta married por love"
The Hausa accent turned my stomach
So I walked away
During my tour
I saw Bill Gates
The descendant of our colonial masters
He waved at me,I waved back
I then ran into Otedola
He wasn't seated like the others
Of his kind
And then I ran to approach him
I said " Brother Otedola, eyin tun ni usher ni"
Hurriedly, he answered "yes"
"What would you love to eat"
I muttered "pounded yam and....."
He smiled and replied
"Wo,we  don't have that here"
I yelled "then what are those people eating"
Then he began to speak gibberish
Things I could not decipher
"Pepperoni rice,Yamarita salad"
"Chinese made chicken wings"
Then I gave up and walked away
Lo and behold, who did my eyes see
It was Aunty Aisha, Buhari's wife
I approached her with all the anger in me
"Aunty,What  is your husband's problem"
"Why is he the president at all"
Before I could raise my eyes
All I heard from her was
"Security!, Security!"
I was thrown out
And Alas, my body jerked back to life
It was all a dream.
