Literary Corner: Mystical Myth by Ewatomilola Adagbada

The mystical myth
Everyone belabours to make sense
of things and situations
To realise what it really means
to have lived well
Some feel it's about living long
to attain every height
Some feel it's about being happy,
you'd hear them say
"it's not how far, but how well"
Some feel it's about experiencing
every of your desires,
not minding how long it lasts
Some feel it's about struggling,
just to stay alive and well
While some feel a little bit of all,
the struggles, the gayness,
the moments; good or bad,
the journey, the accomplishments,
the craving to know which really is right
But really, isn't it just about
who we are, how we feel
and what we want?
Isn't it just about comprehending
the idea of "individual differences"?
Shouldn't we all just live our lives
based on our own convictions?
Even if that was wrong,
satisfaction is guaranteed,
isn't satisfaction the point of it all?
But what if one side won't satisfy
some,
what if a little bit of all is all some want,
does that make them confused and imperfect?

Interpretation: Views of life and living
