Gringo (2018) Movie Review

One of the best Nigerian born actors to grace Hollywood's big screen is arguably David Oyetokunbo Oyelowo,the 41 year old actor played his big role as Martin Luther King Jr in the movie Selma,a wonderful piece,also he played a supporting role in the movie,Rise of the Planet of Apes,he's back on the big screen as a mild mannered US business man with Yoruba ancestry,Harold Soyinka in the movie Gringo

This is another stride in the latest influx of African culture into Hollywood, David Oyelowo even used the Yoruba language in this movie,this Crime-Drama/Comedy boasts of top actors and actresses across Hollywood including Charlize Theron,Joel Edgerton,Amanda Seyfried,Thandie Newton and also debut from Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson
Gringo, a dark comedy mixed with white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, explores the battle of survival for businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) when he finds himself crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal.
Gringo joyrides across the border into Mexico, where all is not as it seems for Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo). Harold tangles with duplicitous business partners and find himself with more dubious survival partners the plot is all about his exploits and how he survived
Already being scored low by rotten tomatoes and IMDb,a 36% by the former and 5.9/10 by the latter
"Gringo rounds up a bafflingly overqualified cast for a misfire of a comedy that's fatally undermined by its messy plot, poorly conceived characters, and obvious debts to better films."-Critic Consensus (ouch!!,that has got to hurt the directors)
Maybe not quite the box office hit when it comes to financials, but Gringo is definitely a movie to hit the cinemas for,with bae I suppose, I mean what kind of a person sees a comedy movie alone??
