- The 30-year-old switched from eating junks to balanced diets as he became older in his career.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has opened up on how he overcame frequent vomiting sickness during matches in the past.

The 30-year-old has been seen throwing- up in a couple of games for both Argentina and Barca in the past, but the Argentine confirmed he had to dump his former eating habit to take up a new one to end the unpalatable situation according to Daily Mail.

It became very pronounced when he fell ill in a friendly game against Romania in Bucharest where he later made it known that it has been a reoccurring issue.

Messi further revealed that eating
chocolate and fizzy drinks were the cause of his travails then, but added that he has changed the diet to something more nourishing to ensure he stays fit while playing for both club and country.

Apart from Messi, other players that
have gone through the same thing while on duty were David Beckham, while on England duty, Belgium's Jan Vertonghen and Frenchman Zinedine Zidane all notable names.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old is on the
verge of winning his ninth Spanish
League title, as his La Liga outfit are at the summit of the table with 11 points clear of Atletico Madrid, who are second on the log.

Messi has scored 25 league goals in 28 appearances for the Blaugrana this season, as they continue to chase a treble in the current league campaign.

Meanwhile, his tally for the season in all competition has been to 35 after netting Barcelona’s second goal against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, March 18.
