Ondo state government has suspended indefinitely, the one year anniversary celebration of the Alale of Akungba Akoko, Oba Sunday Ajimoh.
The celebration had been scheduled for Friday 23 February 2018.
A letter addressed to Oba Ajimoh by the Director, Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Adeyemo on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and obtained by www.orangefm.com.ng directed that the event be put on hold in view of an unfavourable security report.
“There is a threat to peace and security as a result of the proposed programme. The state government has therefore directed that the proposed anniversary celebration be suspended indefinitely ” The letter read in part.
He said government would not allow anything truncate the prevailing peace in all parts of the state, ‘including Akungba Akoko which hosts one of the state universities’.
Adeyemo said relevant security agencies have also been briefed of the latest development.
It would be recalled that the state government last year July directed the indefinite suspension of Oba Ajimoh’s coronation citing security concerns.
