Kylie and Raiden were never meant to be. He had been told from birth not to talk to the people across the tracks. She was told from the minute she got to that town not to either. But one party out of town brought them together and changed both of their lives, forever. Would they choose to ignore their feelings for the sake of their parents, or follow their hearts to the other side?

Kelsie walked down the staircase of her home, letting her bare feet feel the cold of the marble. With the heat that had already hit the town, the cool was a nice contrast and she liked it.
The McAils were the richest family in town, Matt and Sharrie McAil ran a law firm out of Baton Rouge. They spent much of their time away from home leaving their three children, Hane, Keccer, and Kelsie, to be raised by the various workers that were hired just for that. The Mcails moved to small town Casier a couple of months back to escape the day to day troubles that Baton Rouge, Louisiana held. Well the kids and the staff of six did. Matt and Sharrie kept the house on Glenmore Avenue in Baton Rouge so they could be closer to the office.
When they picked little Casier to place their children they made sure that the house they lived in was brand new, and the biggest that little quiet town had ever seen. Even still the house was quite modest from the outside. The inside however had the newest and finest furniture and gadgets that were available.
Hane and Keccer hated living out in the “shabby’s”, as they called it, because they were so far away from their friends and the clubs. But Kelsie on the other hand, she quite liked it. She enjoyed being able to smell the fresh country air and have a quiet life where she didn’t constantly have to worry about being up-to-date on the fashion side of things. Mind you, some nights she laid in bed wishing that she was back in the big city with her friends.
She was always the quietest of the three children, never made much of a fuss about anything. When she was mad or upset about something she would never fight back by instead she would always either read or draw.
You could find her out on the porch swing reading a book or up in her room drawing. That’s what she loved to do, and she did it well too.
The family had lived in the town for a couple of months now and with Kelsie’s senior year of high school fast approaching she wished even more that she could be back in her city. She was never good with meeting new people, even though new people seemed to want to meet her. She was GORGEOUS! She had long brown hair and the prettiest green eyes that anyone had ever seen. Couple that with her body and guys were lined up around the block trying to date her!
She didn’t let the looks taint her personality though. She was sweet and kind and put everyone above herself, no matter what the cost. If anyone needed help they knew to turn to her because she was waiting with a shoulder to cry on, or great advice to give out.
When she walked into the kitchen she found Mariette at the stove making breakfast and Elouise setting the table, a sight that always brought back memories. As she smiled Mariette looked at her and said, “Child you always look so darn cute.”
“Awe well thank you.” Kelsie said walking over to her
After giving her a big hug and a peck on the cheek she walked over to Elouise and she did the same thing.
Elouise looked up from the table and said, “Darn child can you rub off on your brother some?”
Kelsie laughed as she sat down in her seat saying, “Well trust me Miss Louise, I would sure love too. But, well, you know those boys.”
“Amen” Mariette said putting her hand in the air. “So little miss Lee, have any plans for today?”
“Actually I was thinking of going into town today and seeing what around. I’m getting kind of tired of this house, anyways”
“Well seeing as how you’re going into town anyway I figure you can pick me up a few things from the general.
And good you are finally getting out and exploring, it only took you three months.” Mariette said putting the finally bits of breakfast on the plates.
As Elouise passed the dishes out Kelsie said, “Of course I will, and it took me that long because you were keeping me up with all that busy work of yours.”
Kelsie smiled and flashed her pearly whites, which brightened a room, at Mariette who stuck her tongue out in Kelsie’s direction.
“Well Lee, we just don’t know what we would do with ourselves if you up and left one day.” Mariette said, helping with the plate.
“Oh I could never think of leaving you two. I don’t think that’ll ever happen!”
“Well good then, wanna go fetch the men from way out back.” Elouise said pointing to the backyard area.
“Why I’d be honored too, have fun trying to get the boys up. They didn’t get home till a quarter to four this morning.” Kelsie said standing up
“Oh lordy! What are we going to do with those boys.” Mariette said throwing her hands up in the air. Always the dramatic she was.
Kelsie smiled as she slipped out, through the screen door, onto the back porch. She looked around for the men in the back yard and when she turned for the tracks she saw the small shapes of the men she had grown up with.
She stepped off the back porch and let the freshly cut grass escape through her toes. She stayed there for a moment enjoying the sun and the grass then she started to run letting her long hair trail behind her.
This was one of the things she couldn’t do in Baton Rouge. They didn’t have a yard nearly big enough to run in, let alone fast or far enough to let her hair float behind her like a cape. She was glad that they moved out here for many reason, this being one of them.
When she reached her “uncles” or second daddy’s as she called them they looked at her and smiled.
“Hey there little girl” Earl said ruffling her hair “How ya been.”
“Pretty good, Elouise said that y’all should come home now because it’s time for breakfast.”
“That sounds like a plan, but first I want you to meet somebody.” He looked at a man about fifty and said, “Lee, this is Mr. Fihber and his sons, they work at that factory down yonder.” The man said pointing at a tall square building in the distance.
“Well hello, nice to meet you young lady.” Mr. Fihber said outstretching his hand.
She shook it and said, “Nice to meet you to Mr. Fihber.” She smiled
“Well, it was nice meeting you boys. We should do this every morning.” Earl said shaking each one of the men’s hands.
“Yeah it takes us away from our chores.” Randall, another uncle, said laughing.
While they were saying their goodbyes Kelsie locked eyes with a tall boy, a couple years her elder. She dropped her eye and blushed a little thinking that he was cute. By the way he was looking at her he was thinking the same thing.
After the goodbyes were said Kelsie and her uncle’s walked back to the house. As they neared the house Kelsie said
“Don’t cha know what people say about the other side people? They said we shouldn’t talk to them for our own safety.”
“Do you do everything that you are told?” Earl said laughing, “Now tell me if they looked dangerous to you?”
“Well not really”
Earl cut her off before she could finish her sentence, “So see there is nothing wrong with them.” As they neared the back porch he said, “Guess what?”
“What?” Kelsie said looking up at him
“We all used to be the other side people; well I guess you can call us that. But think of that before you judge others on what people have told you.”
“Okay uncle Earl.” Kelsie said smiling.
